Golfers Recovery Treatment
Bonalba Golf Massage
Spanish Sports Massage for Golfers concentrates on relaxing the back, hamstrings, hip flexors, shoulders, forearms and wrists to create a bigger shoulder turn, better hip & back flexibility, more powerful torque and a higher finish. With the combination of Sports Massage with specific stretches, Bonalba Massage for Golfers is a sure way to improve any golfers game.
Through the years, we have worked with thousands of golfers, and we have learned how to help golfers get the best from their body in order to go to the next level. Sometimes that next level is just playing pain-free or being able to finish 18 holes without being in pain or exhausted. And sometimes the next level is improving your mental focus or to increase your flexibility so the power of your torque increases.
One massage may not do the trick, so consider making massage a part of your routine to help you play golf pain-free so you can improve your handicap and play for years to come.
(Sports and Deep Tissue Massages are performed using hands not golf balls)

Golfers Elbow Treatment
Golfers Elbow Massage
Our approach is to work on either the extensors (tennis) or flexors (golfer’s) muscles in the forearm that have normally been over-worked and are tight and fibrous which has led to the micro tears at the epicondyles.
Sports massage techniques are applied to both the tendon and the connecting muscles. Cross friction massage to the tendon is used if the injury has become chronic or does not respond to initial rest and ice treatment. We apply sports massage to the muscles of the forearm, this can help reduce tension in the muscles improving their function which long term should help reduce the strain on the tendon at the elbow. We also check the pronaters and supinators of the forearm and often find the pronator teres is tight with tennis elbow. These muscles need to be stripped and separated (not the most pleasant of massages nor easy work for the therapist) to loosen up the tight fibres. Then the muscles need to be stretched mainly using a ‘soft tissue release’ method using false muscle origins which do not put further strain on the epicondyles. Ultrasound Massage is also available and may be used.

Trapped Nerve Treatment
Effective treatment for a Trapped Nerve Massage Treatment for Sciatica a common type of pain caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve. This can be cause by excessive standing or sitting. Symptoms include:
* Pain in the buttock or leg that is worse when sitting
* Burning or tingling down the leg
* Weakness, numbness, or difficulty moving the leg or foot
* A constant pain on one side of the buttock
* A shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up
* Sciatica usually affects only one side of the lower body.
Often, the pain extends from the lower back all the way through the back of the thigh and down through the leg. Depending on where the sciatic nerve is affected, the pain may also extend to the foot or toes.
The sciatic nerve goes down to the lower leg and foot and down the back of the thigh between muscles like the piriformis, which run down from the sacral area to the legs. A tightening of these muscles can cause the sciatic nerve to get compressed and cause pain. The massage treatment will include applying constant pressure to the piriformis and other gluteal muscles to cause them to relax and reduce the spasms. Our massage therapists will include deep tissue long massage strokes, which go deep into the muscle fibers. This may require several sessions to enable the muscle to release its hold on the sciatic nerve and therefore afford longer relief.

What is sports massage?
Sports Massage And Golf Massage Bonalba
Most Golfers will experience tightness and tenderness in various muscles associated with golf which can be exacerbated by poor posture, poor golf technique, no warm-up or preparation and intense practice regimes. Remedial Massage addresses muscle imbalances which occur when the body is continually fixed in a permanent position or involved in repetitive actions such as range practice or through poor posture (i.e. putting, chipping, driving to and from the golf course or sitting at desks). Sports massage can reduce tension and anxiety especially when the golfer feels under pressure allowing golf to be played from a better mental state of mind. It will assist the lymphatic system, act upon and eradicate toxins that build up in the body e.g. lactic acid build up from walking, practice and playing. It will help reduce muscle tightness that can lead to or cause postural imbalances. It will increase your range of movement, by loosening stiff joints and tight muscles. Creating a freer more fluid motion in the golf swing. It can reduce muscle spasms and scar tissue especially in over tight areas. Finally, mentally it also creates body awareness, generates a feeling of well being and can affect the receiver on energetic level too. Whether you are a weekend warrior or a touring professional, including massage therapy as a regular part of your training program can help you to avoid injury, enhance golf performance and play more pain free golf.
Benefits of Massage Therapy for Golf:
* Increases circulation that assists in removing metabolic wastes that can accumulate in muscles due to overuse and the repetitive motion of the golf swing
* Sports Massage will help reduce muscle spasms, trigger points and adhesions to help prevent injury and improve quality of movement.
* Improve range of motion and muscle flexibility resulting in increased power and performance
* Decrease anxiety and stress levels
* Improve mental focus
A Few of the Numerous Types of Massage Therapy we provide to Improve Performance:
- Swedish Massage is one of the most commonly offered and well known types of massage. It is a more gentle and superficial approach of massage used to improve circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, and create relaxation.
- Deep Tissue Sports Massage is a type of massage that focuses on realigning the deeper layer of muscles and connective tissues. It works by physically breaking up adhesions in the muscle to relieve pain and helps to restore proper movement and .
- Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy applies direct pressure to specific tender areas of a muscle. These tender areas are known as trigger points and can refer pain and sensations to other parts of the body. This type of therapy usually leads to an immediate release of tension and improved muscle functioning.
- Myofascial Release is a style which focuses on the fascia, the complex web of connective tissue in the body which runs from head to toe. The fascia can hold a great deal of pain, tension, and strain which can contribute to soft tissue pain. By releasing the strain on the fascia using broad stretching techniques, a massage therapist aims to release soft tissue pain and increase freedom of movement.

As a regular gym goer I have found by having regular Sports Massages that my muscles recover more quickly and this has certainly prevented injuries when I have over trained. Kerry has given much well needed advice and I have found her to be very knowledgeable with the skeletal and muscular anatomy. I would highly recommend.
